Lydia Ellen Fisher

Lydia Ellen Fisher, 71, of Emmett, Idaho, formerly of Warrenton, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, in Emmett, after a battle with cancer.

She was born Dec. 18, 1939, in Watford City, N.D., to Robert E. and Ethel M. (Zubke) Hayden.

The family moved to Bay City when she was young, and she received her education there. The family then moved to Warrenton.

She married Marvin L. Fisher in Longview, Wash. The couple had six children and later divorced.

Mrs. Fisher worked at the seafood canneries in her younger years. Later in life she worked as an in-home caregiver, which she enjoyed doing. She retired in 2000. She has resided in Emmett for the last few years.

Family members said her hobbies included crocheting, crafting, reading, cooking and baking. She always enjoyed spending time with her family.

He is survived by two sons, Robert Fisher of Emmett and Ronald Fisher of Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn and Rick Martin of Emmett and Kristen and Gary Baird of Astoria; four brothers and a sister-in-law, Rob and Linda Hayden and Mike and Donald Hayden, all of Longview, and Edward Hayden of Clatskanie; a sister and brother-in-law, Penny and Bruce Reed of Castle Rock, Wash.; nine grandchildren, Melissa Cokley and her husband, Mike, of Knappa, Jennifer Bergerson and her husband, Chris, of Warrenton, Sara Jenson and her husband, Joel, of Dundee, Michelle Smith and her husband, Jason, Mindy Wheatly and Miranda Roberts and her husband, Chris, all of Emmett, and Randy Layman and Brian and Luke VanGundy, all of Astoria; 15 great-grandchildren, Tripp and Rhett Cokley. Haley, Charlie, Ben and Olivia Bergerson, Taylor and Trista Jenson, Chasity Ballard, Jordan Smith, Lia and Jada Wheatley, Jayden and Janessa Moran and Jace Roberts; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two children, Kimberly and Randall Fisher; and two brothers, Arthur and Miles Hayden.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at Greenwood Cemetery in Astoria.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, or a charity of one’s choice, in care of Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin Ave., Astoria, OR 97103.
