Ann Lorraine Long

Ann Lorraine Long, 82, of Astoria, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, in Seaside.

She was born Aug. 5, 1928, in Spokane, Wash., to Lewis and Emma Natalie (Carlson) Doyle.

She was raised in Spokane, and graduated from high school there.

On Sept. 24, 1949, she married Duane Long in Spokane. He preceded her in death in 1977.

Mrs. Long and her family moved from Spokane to Astoria in 1958, where she has resided ever since. She was a homemaker until 1971, when she went to work on the switchboard at St. Mary’s Hospital in Astoria. She then worked in the emergency room at Columbia Memorial Hospital admitting patients. She retired in December 1992.

She was very active member and a prayer warrior at Astoria First Assembly of God.

Family members said her hobbies included watching the Mariners baseball team and Fox News.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Greg and Cheryl Long of Astoria and Ted Long of Warrenton; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Diane and Bob O’Bryant of Everett, Wash., and Cynthia Junes and Valerie and Adam Lopez, all of Astoria; 22 grandchildren, Christy, Josh and Jacob Long, Brian Junes, Gregory Frank, Adan, Andres, Alejandro, Pilar and Antonio Lopez and Aaron, La Nae, Samuel and Timmy Long, all of Astoria, Matthew Junes of Texas, Shelli Russell of Woodland, Wash., Anna Lytle and Jared O’Bryant of Renton, Wash., Paul Simon of Columbus, Ohio, and Kristina Varela, Kara Cervantes and Kayla Bennett, all of Kansas; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Irene and Frank Trier and Maureen and Phil Schuable, all of Washington, and Grace Whipple of Astoria; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Patrick and Rose Doyle of Gearhart and Mike and Shirley Doyle of Washington; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Tim Long Sr. in 1977; a sister, Mary Nerenberg; and two brothers, Father Dominic Doyle and Father Lewis Doyle.

A funeral at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, at the Astoria First Assembly of God Church, 1775 Seventh St., will precede a graveside service at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton. A reception will be held at the church following the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Astoria First Assembly of God Church or Missions, in care of Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin Ave., Astoria, OR 97103.
