Marion L. Louden, 91, of Astoria, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, in Astoria.

She was born May 3, 1919, in Norway, Mich., to Joseph and Effie Gauthier.

She graduated from R.A. Long High School in Longview, Wash.

On April 30, 1960, she married Robert L. Louden in Stevenson, Wash. He preceded her in death May 8, 2000.

Mrs. Louden worked as a waitress and a bartender. She was also a supervisor at American Linen.

Family members said she was an avid gardener and liked to mow grass. She loved nature, especially birds and enjoyed going to casinos. She also enjoyed being a homemaker and spending time with her family.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Bob Letsinger of Astoria; a son-in-law, Ed Selven of Astoria; a brother, CA Gauthier of Longview; a sister, Catherine Schumm of San Clemente, Calif.; six grandchildren, Kellie Bakanen and Terry Selven of Astoria, Rob Selven of Eugene, Danita Scott of Rainier and Debbie Campbell and Dawn Clark of Kelso, Wash.; 11 great-grandchildren, Michelle DeVos of Warrenton, Amy, Kaari, Kristen and Michael Selven of Eugene, Lindsey Campbell of Seattle, Jamie Clark of Kelso and Derrick, Dane, Katie and Brittney Scott of Rainier; three great-great-grandchildren, Megan McCall DeVos and Mason and Colton DeVos, all of Warrenton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Walker, June 18, 1989; and nine siblings.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin Ave.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, at Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary, followed by a graveside service at Fort Stevens Post Cemetery in Hammond.
