William Howard Korth, 94, of Rosburg, Wash., died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, in Rosburg, after a battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 16, 1917, in Great Falls, Mont., to Einer and Svea (Lenstrom) Korth. He was one of four children.
After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was awarded the Victor Medal during World War II. He left the service after seven years with an honorable discharge.
On March 22, 1941, he married Helen Marie Mangold. She preceded him in death April 21, 2008.
Most of Mr. Korth’s working years were spent at Hughes Aircraft as a prototype specialist. His final years were spent in Rosburg, living on Deep River.
Family members said he was a man of honor and integrity and was always there for his family. A talented woodworker who enjoyed his craft, he built many things for his family and friends.
He is survived by a daughter, Karen Korth of Rosburg; two grandsons, Duane Strohl of Palm Desert, Calif., and Darrin Strohl of Vancouver, Wash.; and two sisters, Ruth Miller of Mililani, Hawaii, and Bea Kinman of Seal Beach, Calif.
A celebration of life service will be planned for a later date.
