Dennis was born in Astoria on Feb. 19, 1952 to Alfredo Garcia and Hazel Villaflor. He was raised in the Warrenton area and graduated from Warrenton High School in 1969.
As a boy, Dennis had a paper route and as he grew older, he cleaned fish at the mooring basins for sports fishermen. During high school, Dennis started working at the IGA market near Smith Point, working his way up to assistant manager where he worked until the store closed. His next job was driving truck for Point Adams Packing, delivering fish. Later, he drove truck for Coast Distributing. He then had a delivery route for the Wonder Bread Company until he retired in 2003 for medical reasons.
As an adult, Dennis purchased his first home in 1975 in Hammond, where he lived with his wife Vienna Johnson of Knappa and son Brandon until his death.
Dennis loved hunting, fishing, clam-digging, golf, watching sports and spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving are his wife Vienna and their son Brandon of Hammond. Other surviving family members are brothers Chuck Kobrizycki and significant-other Char Lahaie of Warrenton; Richard and Andrea Garcia of Hammond; Phil Kobrizycki of Grants Pass; and John Severson and wife Maryann of Hammond. His surviving sisters are Michelle Thomas and husband Jim of Sherwood; Linda Wood of Honolulu, Hawaii; Maria Garcia of Astoria; Linda Bergerson and husband David of Astoria; and Juanita "Nita" Smith of Dallas, Oregon. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their families; a longtime childhood friend, Roger Searle; and many other close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepparents, Wayne and Ardeth Severson of Hammond, as well as a sister, Diana Pinita and Sharon Garcia. A visitation is scheduled at Caldwell's Mortuary in Astoria on Friday, March 4 between 3 and 6 p.m.
A celebration-of-life service will be held at a later date, when family members are able to attend. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Clatsop County Hospice, or to the American Diabetes Foundation
