Elizabeth J. “Betsi” Rowles, 61, of Warrenton, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011, in Warrenton.
She was born Nov. 7, 1949, in Astoria, to Claude A. and Marjorie M. MacDonald. Her parents preceded her in death.
She married Cameron D. Rowles. He survives, residing in Warrenton.
Mrs. Rowles was a nurse’s aide in her younger years. After her marriage, she worked in the office and library at Knappa High School. Later she was a cheerleader adviser. She also had a ceramic shop and a craft shop. She worked at Head Start for four years and for the educational service district one year. She received a diploma in early childhood education in 2008.
She was involved with Victory Over Child Abuse (VOCA) for five years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Alex Cabalona of Warrenton; a son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Lisa Rowles of Fort Dix, N.J.; seven grandchildren, Courtney, Madison and Skylar Jensen and Levi Cabalona, all of Warrenton, and Britney, Ashley and Cameron Rowles of Fort Dix; two sisters, Nora Sargeant of Yamhill and Mardi Tanguay of Astoria; two special friends, Vicky Duffy and Lenaeh Gannaway; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to VOCA, 1054 Exchange St., Astoria, OR 97103.
