Sherry Dee Valley, age 63, of Warrenton, died Sunday, May 22, 2011, in Portland. She was born Dec. 27, 1947, in Clatskanie, to Raymond and Shirley Laverne (Donovan) Blackburn. Her mother survives, residing in Warrenton. Her father preceded her in death. She was raised in Oregon and graduated from Naselle (Wash.) High School. She attended St. Francis College in Bremerton, Wash., and received a registered nursing degree. Mrs. Valley began working at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton. She then worked for various hospitals. She continued her education and also worked in administration at various hospitals. She came to Clatsop County three years ago from Ely, Nev., and has resided here since. Family members said her hobbies included riding horses, playing the flute and writing poetry. She enjoyed spending time with her family. In addition to her mother, she is survived by two sons, Walter D. Fowler Jr. of Portland and Toby R. Fowler of Grand Junction, Colo.; a daughter, Kelley E. Fowler of Las Vegas; a brother, Thomas J. Alsteen of Bremerton; and seven grandchildren, Wally and Ryan Fowler, Crystal Morgan and Esteban, Aurora, Auriana and Raymond Fowler. A private celebration of life will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at the Warrenton Community Center, 170 S.W. Third St. in Warrenton.
