Yvonne Viuhkola Collins, 65, of Astoria, died Thursday, June 30, 2011, at home.
She was born June 23, 1946, in Stockton, Calif., to Otis Dee and Judith Grace (McGhee) Walker.
She graduated from Jefferson High School in Portland.
On March 30, 1968, she married John Viuhkola. He preceded her in death June 2, 1985.
On Sept. 2, 1989, she married Tim Collins in Reno, Nev. He survives, residing in Astoria.
Mrs. Collins worked as a day care provider at the YMCA, a filleter at Astoria Seafood and as a residential adviser at Job Corps. She retired in September 2009.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church for many years, and was the youth group leader from 1984 to 1987.
Family members said she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, visiting Manzanita and a stiff drink.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Jennifer Viuhkola and Earon and Crystal Viuhkola, all of Lake Oswego; five grandchildren, Vanessa, Zeke, Mark, Eve and Luke Viuhkola of Lake Oswego; two sisters, Judy Harrell of Stockton and Lila Robinson of Charlottesville, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Davis.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at the Astoria Elks Lodge, 453 11th St.
