Florence E. “Flo” Richardson, 90, of Warrenton, died Friday, July 8, 2011, in Astoria.
She was born Oct. 19, 1920, in Cathlamet, Wash., to Louie and Borghild (Kvale) Longtain.
The family moved to Astoria when she was 6 years old. She attended Lewis & Clark Consolidated School and Astoria High School, graduating in 1938.
On Nov. 29, 1944, she married Clyde Richardson in Lawton, Okla. He preceded her in death March 29, 2006.
Mrs. Richardson worked on the switchboard at St. Mary’s Hospital in Astoria for a while. She also worked for the U.S. government at Fort Stevens. She then worked at Ocean Foods as a fish filleter, retiring from there in the mid-1960s.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Astoria.
Family members said her hobbies included traveling in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. She also enjoyed going to yard sales, reading, puzzles, crafts, shopping and cooking. She loved her flower garden.
She is survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Ronald and Mary Longtain of Astoria and Don Longtain of Corvallis; two sisters, Louise Baranowski of Tacoma, Wash., and Jean Hammons of Oregon City; three close friends, Mary and Jim Jenkins of Warrenton and Alicia Costalos of Bend; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, at Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin Ave. in Astoria. A graveside service with vault interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton.
After the graveside service, a reception will be held at the Longshoreman’s Hall, 491 Industry St. in Astoria.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Warrenton Fire Department, 225 S. Main Ave., Warrenton, OR 97146.
