Darcy Jay “Darce” Putnam, 60, of Astoria, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011, in Astoria.
He was born June 19, 1951, in Pomona, Calif., to Charles Leonard Putnam and Doris Mae Morgan. His parents preceded him in death.
On Feb. 6, 1987, he married Mary Faye Putnam in San Bernardino, Calif. She survives, residing in Astoria.
Mr. Putnam was a master automotive mechanic and business owner. He was disabled for the last 15 years.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Astoria Ward.
Family members said he loved watching fast-pitch softball and seeing one of his granddaughters play. He was taking up photography, and enjoyed driving his “hot rod.”
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Ronald Hazelwood of Maple Valley Wash.; a daughter, Romi Nissa Lewis of Hesperia, Calif.; nine grandchildren, Zachary Ben Hazelwood of Crestline, Calif., Brittany Shay Gritz and Kassandra Nevada, Kaylee Rose, Mary Kaycee and Casey John Hazelwood, all of Maple Valley, Bryanna Jordan Hazelwood of Orem, Utah, and Jay Jay and Lauren Elizabeth Lewis, both of Hesperia; a sister, Judy Wolfe of Hemet, Calif.; a brother, Randy Putnam of Fresno, Calif.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two aunts, Claire Simonoff and Merna Waugh; and a cousin, Joseph Waugh.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 16, with a funeral to follow at noon, at the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints, Astoria Ward, 350 Niagara Ave.
