David James Bodie, 68, of Knappa, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, in Knappa.
He was born May 10, 1943, in San Diego, to Delbert O. and Martha M. (Kunkler) Bodie.
Raised in Warrenton, he graduated from Warrenton High School in 1961. He went on to attend the University of Oregon.
He enlisted into the U.S. Navy and served from February 1964 to January 1968.
On June, 29, 1969, he married Vicki Smith in Warrenton. She survives, residing in Knappa, where the couple moved in 2007.
Mr. Bodie, along with his father, owned and operated the Chevron Gas Station in Warrenton for more than years. He and his wife were foster parents, and he was a house manager for Coast Rehabilitation Services. Along with his son, he owned and operated a dairy farm in Tillamook.
Family members said his hobbies included raising baby calves, yard work, antiques, assisting his elderly friends, and spending time with his grandchildren and his Pug, Oprah.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Nick Ellenburg of Minnesota and Jennifer and Richard Long of Oregon; a son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Kerry Bodie of Oregon; five grandchildren, Porter Ellenburg of Minnesota and Rudy Ellenburg, Ethan Long and Kayla and Mickinley Bodie, all of Oregon; a sister and brother-in-law, Doris and George Warren of Oregon; and numerous nieces.
A memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Knappa Assembly of God. A reception will follow at the Church.
A private graveside will be held at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton
