Arthur Charles Milne Jr., 85, of Warrenton, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, in Warrenton.
He was born March 8, 1926, in Portland.
Raised in Portland, he graduated from Grant High School in 1944.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force and served from September 1944 through November 1945.
He then attended the University of Oregon and received a bachelor’s degree. While there, he was a member of the football team.
On Oct. 21, 1978, he married Ruby Bienert Don. She survives, residing in Warrenton.
Mr. Milne held various career positions which led him to become the director of ship traffic at the Port of Vancouver, Wash., for 26 years. He retired in 1993, then moved to Warrenton.
In 2008, he was inducted into of the Portland Interscholastic League Hall of Fame from Grant High School.
Family members said his hobbies included golfing, photography and making stained glass art work. He donated many hours working at the Clatsop County Food Bank.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Kris and Russ Goltry of Silverdale, Wash., Kellie and Carl Harper of Bend, Kerry Milne Malarkey and John Malarkey of Portland, and Diane Don of Sydney, Australia; a son, Robert Don III of Kingston, Wash.; and three grandchildren, Shane Harper of Portland and Emily and Gregory Peterson of Sydney.
Mr. Milne requested that there be no service at this time.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Clatsop County Food Bank, 364 Ninth St., Astoria, OR 97103.
