Robert C. "Bob" Parker, age 58, of Knappa, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, in Portland. He was born July 14, 1953, in Astoria, to Robert M. and Beverly Ann (Nelson) Parker. His parents preceded him in death. He spent his younger years in Astoria and Sacramento, Calif. The family moved to Newberg, where he graduated from high school in 1971. In 2003, he married Cheryl Ford. She survives, residing in Knappa. Mr. Parker owned his own roofing business twice, and worked for a while in Portland at the train yard. He moved back to Clatsop County and worked for Bob Moon Construction, Carlson Roofing in Portland, and spent many years roofing and installing gutters for Solum Roofing in Knappa. He attended Knappa Assembly of God Church. Family members said he loved people, his pets and spending time with his family. He could fix anything. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Francesco Cini of Florence, Italy; a stepdaughter, Heather Huerta and her husband, Rene, of Eugene; a stepson, Donnie Shrode of Redding, Calif.; six grandchildren, Christopher and Gabriel Cini of Florence and Adam, Hanna, Daniel and Isaiah Huerta of Eugene; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sarah Kalenda of McMinnville and Sharon and Larry Ballard of Tigard; a stepfather, John Kalenda of Newberg; an uncle, Derrell Nelson of Svensen; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Knappa Assembly of God Church, 41767 Old Highway 30. Caldwell's Luce-Layton Mortuary in Astoria is in charge of the arrangements.
