Orlin "George" Bahr, 79, of Warrenton, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, in Warrenton.
He was born Jan. 10, 1932, in Miller, S.D., to Hinnie and Goldia Ann (Mohr) Bahr.
In 1950, he graduated from high school in Lind, Wash., and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving until 1954.
On March 2, 1952, he married Madora Hochhalter, who was serving in the Women's Army Corps, in Augusta, Ga. She survives, residing in Warrenton.
After leaving the service, Mr. Bahr worked for the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Md., for 33 years. In 1990, he and his wife moved to Clatsop County.
Family members said his hobbies included dancing and fishing.
He was a member of Clatsop Post 12 American Legion a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Fort Stevens Post 10580.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Stephen Bahr and his companion, Wanda Button, of Warrenton and Bruce Bahr of Edmond, Okla.; two daughters, Barbara Rude of Los Angeles and Sheila Hutchinson and her husband, Noble, of Seaside; and five grandchildren, Stephanie Bahr of Edmond, Kimberly Bahr of Columbia, Md., Rachel Rude of Irvine, Calif., and Adam and James Hutchinson of Seaside.
He was preceded in death by a son, Alan Bahr; a brother, Edwin Bahr; and a sister, Della Wilson.
A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Clatsop Post 12 American Legion.
