Dana H. Anderson, 80, of Astoria, died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, in Astoria.
She was born Aug. 8, 1931, in Rhinelander, Wis., to John L. and Barbara C. (Miller) Chambliss.
When she was a young child, the family moved to Falls Church, Va., where she graduated from high school.
She started nurses training, but decided to get married and raise a family first.
On June 6, 1953, she married Alan J. "Andy" Anderson in San Diego. They later divorced. He preceded her in death.
In 1958, Mrs. Anderson and her family moved to Oregon. She attended Portland Community College and received her registered nurse's degree in 1975. She worked at St. Vincent Hospital in Portland for several years, then for the city of Beaverton as an outreach coordinator until retiring in 1981. In 2005, she moved to Clatsop County.
Family members said her hobbies included reading, music, gardening, watching classic movies and watching nature.
She is survived by two daughters, M. Catherine Anderson of Astoria and Barbara E. Anderson of Spokane, Wash.; a son, Joseph A. Anderson of Jewell; four grandchildren, Heidi A. and Natalie G. Orr of Astoria, Evan W. Howell of Spokane and Avery J. Anderson of Jewell; a sister, Natalie Chambliss of Mountain House, Calif.; a great-grandson, Moses A. Ramsey of Astoria; and a cousin, Julita Weldes of Jacksonville.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Chambliss.
Mrs. Anderson requested that there be no service.
