Clyde Evans Dye Jr., age 66, of Astoria, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, in Astoria. He was born July 16, 1945, in Salem, to Clyde Evans and Effie Jane (Potter) Dye. Raised in Astoria, he attended Astoria High School. He served in the U.S. Army for six years. Mr. Dye worked in retail store maintenance and doing a wide variety of odd jobs. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. Family members said he enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, camping and gardening. His constant companion was his little dog, Dash. He is survived by five sisters, Mary Barratt of Arizona, Clydine Calverley of Scio, Jane Seymorr of California, Evelyn June Watts of Lebanon, Lou Ellen Pearson of Salem and Lois Peterson of McMinnville; and two brothers, Marvin Dye of Canby and Gerald Dye of Wrightwood, Calif. A family memorial will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Astoria Senior Center; 1111 Exchange St. Astoria, OR 97103.
