Arthur J. "Art" Davidson III, age 67, of Seaside, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at home. He was born May 25, 1944, in Seattle, to Arthur J. Davidson Jr. and Dorothy (Fulton) Davidson. His father survives, residing in Seattle. His mother preceded him in death. Raised in Seattle, Mr. Davidson graduated from Washington State University with a degree in business and marketing. He then went to the University of Puget Sound, where he got his teaching credentials. He married Vicki Davidson. She preceded him in death. Mr. Davidson was a teacher at Fort Vancouver High School for 31 years before retiring in 2002. He then relocated to Seaside. He was a substitute teacher for the Seaside School District for three years. He was an active member of Kiwanis, Seaside High School Key Club, Seaside Chamber of Commerce, Seaside Boosters and the Clatsop County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition. Family members said he loved travel, photography, supporting his daughter, Kai Davidson, in her high school and college sports, and cheering on the Washington State Cougars. In addition to his father, he is survived by two daughters, Amanda Davidson of Portland and Kai Davidson of Seaside; a son and daughter-in-law, David Davidson and Kristina Winkler of Seaside; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Barbara Davidson of Seattle; and two nephews, Tyler and Trevor Davidson of Seattle. A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at the Seaside High School cafeteria. Memorial contributions may be made to the Art Davidson Memorial Fund through the TLC Credit Union. Caldwell's Luce-Layton Mortuary in Astoria is in charge of the arrangements.
