Danny R. "Papa Danny" Knapp, 67, of Knappa, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at home.
He was born July 3, 1944, in Walla Walla, Wash., to Marion O. and Violet E. (Stendler) Knapp. His parents preceded him in death.
In 1962, he graduated from Knappa High School
On Aug. 10, 1974, he married Judy M. (Cole) Knapp in Seaside. She survives, residing in Knappa.
Mr. Knapp was a paper mill worker at Wauna Mill. He retired in 2006.
Family members said he enjoyed hunting, fishing, family life with his grandchildren and working around the house.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Frank Stuhr of Knappa; two sons, Josh Knapp and his wife, Christina, of Knappa, and Doug Knapp and his companion, Kiasa Wilson of Sherwood; a brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and Violet Knapp of Knappa; a sister, Rose Barber and her companion, Ron Giffert, of Newberg; five grandchildren, Teagan Knapp and Cody and Kayden Stuhr, all of Knappa, Kaydence Knapp of Clatskanie, Macy and Gatlin Knapp of Sherwood and Logan Hancock of Clarkston, Wash.; a daughter-in-law, Selena Knapp of Clatskanie; three sisters-in-law, Pat Boehm and her husband, Donald, of Astoria, Shirleen Hutchens and her husband, Gary, of Estero, Fla., and Diane Schafer and her husband, Ralph, of Ramona, Calif.; three brothers-in-law, Jim and Fred Cole of Seaside and and Roger Cole and his wife, Pat, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a father-in-law, Roy Cole and his companion, Rosie Egbert, of Seaside; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at Knappa Assembly of God, 41767 Old Highway 30.
