Mrs. Betty J Gilmour, a resident of Astoria, Oregon, died on January 23, 2012, at the age of 83 years old. She died peacefully at a local elder care home of natural causes. Mrs. Gilmour was born on December 1928, in a small rural town in northern California. Her parents, Leslie and Thelma Bidwell, were prominent orchardists in Sonoma County. Mrs. Gilmour was a lifelong public servant working as a civilian for engineering services at Travis AFB. She enjoyed outside activities with a number of her work friends. Mrs. Gilmour especially relished her very close personal relationship to Ms. Pam Glendening, a former colleague. Mrs. Gilmour was well respected and gathered employee awards upon her retirement. Mrs. Gilmour is survived by her loving husband Gaylord, of Astoria and enjoyed a lengthy marriage of 63 years, beginning as high school sweethearts. Mrs. Gilmour is also survived by two sons, Tracy Gilmour along with his wife Jane and Craig Gilmour, two grandsons, Nick and Ian Gilmour and a great-grandson Wyatt Gilmour. Each has fond memories of their family events and gatherings with Mrs. Gilmour. Mrs. Gilmour was an avid pet owner who had many wonderful dogs and cats. She thoroughly enjoyed their companionship and it showed in her loving care for each animal. Her current dog, Ruffy, will miss her very much. Mrs. Gilmour's wishes are for cremation, thus no formal service will be held. Instead, she requested her immediate family place her ashes in the vast ocean she loved so much. Her wishes will be honored. The family wishes to thank all of the wonderful people in her life and especially the many fine local health care professionals in Astoria. Her last days were made that much better as a result of their attentive care.
