Paul Gustav Lindberg

Paul Gustav Lindberg, 75, of Astoria, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, in Seaside.

He was born Sept. 13, 1936, in Astoria, to Gustav W. and Henrietta A. (Brabau) Lindberg.

Raised in Astoria, he graduated from Astoria High School in 1954.

In May 1955, he married Jeanette Backanen. She preceded him in death Feb. 27, 2001.

On April 4, 1970, he married Janet Mathiesen in Astoria. She survives, residing in Astoria.

Mr. Lindberg worked as a custodian for the Lewis and Clark Consolidated School District for 10 years. He then worked at various jobs for a period of time, later driving a log truck for Dan Hess and working in the woods. In 1991, he hurt his back and has been retired since then.

Family members said his hobbies included woodworking, making bird houses, hunting and fishing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Debbie and Bob Bingham and Eileen Lindberg, all of Astoria; four grandchildren, Briana Stampflee and her husband, Rob, and Nicole Bingham, all of Warrenton, Pablo Delacruz and his wife, Resh, of the Philippines and Lara Simmons of Astoria; three great-grandsons, Caleb and Parker Stampflee of Warrenton and Raiken Delacruz of the Philippines; and two brothers, Ronald Lindberg of Astoria and Tom Lindberg of Portland.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Lindberg on Feb. 13, 1997, and David Lindberg on Oct. 13, 2005.

A memorial will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Logan Road Chapel, 90571 Logan Road.

Private interment will be at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton.
