Kenneth William Morrison, 100, of Rosburg, Wash., died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, in Astoria.
He was born April 2, 1911, in Hulett, Wyo., to George F. and Ruth L. (McClure) Morrison. The family moved to Portland when he was 9 years old.
He attended Benson High School in Portland.
In 1941, he was drafted into the U.S. Army Air Corps, and served until 1945. While in the service, he was stationed in Saipan.
In 1953, he married Marie Pabst. She preceded him in death in 1977.
As a young man, Mr. Morrison moved to Deep River, Wash., to work in a logging camp at Malone Creek. After his return from the service, he worked on the Bonneville Dam project for a few years. He also worked for Bend-Portland Company as a truck driver for several years until his retirement in 1973.
Family members said his hobbies included fishing, hunting, clam digging, yard work, chopping wood, cooking and playing pinochle with his friends. He and his daughter traveled extensively to several countries from 1978 to 1985.
He is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Morrison of Rosburg; and a niece, Patricia Hudson and her husband, Bill, of Eugene.
Mr. Morrison requested that there be no service.
Private burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
