Mary Ellen Baker

Mary Ellen Baker, 72, of Seaside, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, in Seaside.

She was born Nov. 29, 1940, in Longview, Wash., to Clifford Ray Ferrell and Delpha Carolyn Linderholm.

In 1958, she graduated from Warrenton High School.

She married Floyd Baker. He survives residing in Seaside.

Mrs. Baker worked for several years with Wesrose's Antiques in Gearhart and in Astoria.

She was a member of the Believers Family Fellowship in Warrenton.

Family members said that as a young child, she fell in love with reading. She had fond memories of always having a book to read. She also loved geography and enjoyed traveling. Whether it was a quick trip down the coast, or halfway across the world, she was packed and ready to go.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Diane Smock of Caldwell, Idaho; four granddaughters, Tiffany Grischkowsky and her husband, David, of Burley, Idaho, Brettany Smock of Westport, Amery Smock of Pocatello, Idaho, and Kelli Smock of Caldwell; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Alex Grischkowsky of Burley; three nieces, Nancy Johnson and her husband, David, of Vancouver, Wash., Maria Bailely of Portland and Becky Williams of Pocatello; and four brothers and sisters-in-law, Dick and Kathy Ferrell of Salem, Larry and Carolyn Ferrell of Astoria, Dan and Eva Ferrell of Warrenton and Lloyd and Louise Ferrell of Beaverton.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, Feb. 14, followed by a funeral at 1 p.m., at Caldwell's Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin Ave.

Interment will be private.
