Marilyn Elizabeth Dugan, 75, of Astoria, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, in Astoria.
She was born Feb. 3, 1937, in Portland, to Chet and Elizabeth S. (Miles) Hughes.
At a young age, her mother divorced and then married Hjalmer "Futchie" Hjorten, who adopted Mrs. Dugan and her brother.
Raised in Astoria, she attended St. Mary, Star of the Sea School.
On March 19, 1953, she married Ronald J. Larson. He preceded her in death Nov. 19, 1979.
On Nov. 18, 1989, she married Patrick A. Dugan. He survives, residing in Astoria.
Mrs. Dugan received an accounting degree from Clatsop Community College in 1989 and worked for J.P. Plumbing as an accountant for several years. She retired in 1995.
Family members said she enjoyed traveling, gardening and being a mother and grandmother. She loved family gatherings.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by eight sons and six daughters-in-law, Mike and Patty Larson of Portland, Paul and Cheryl Larson of Svensen, Jim Larson and Rick and Dori Larson, all of Knappa, Patrick M. Dugan Jr. and his wife, Ingrid, of Astoria, Kerry and Holly Dugan of Arlington, Wash., Maury Dugan of Kodiak, Alaska, and Tim and Margie Dugan of Renton, Wash.; two daughters, Jody Burkholder of Vancouver, Wash., and Mary Todd of Astoria; a brother and sister-in-law, Pat and Gail Hjorten of Seattle; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Erica Dugan of Knappa; 19 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Wayne Burkholder, in 1985; a son, Sean Dugan, in 2009; and a sister, Sue Hjorten.
A recitation of the rosary will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m., at St. Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 1465 Grand Ave.
A graveside service will follow at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton.
