Inez Marjorie Mccroskey

Inez M. McCroskey, 88, of Longview, Wash., formerly of Clatsop County, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012, in Longview.

She was born May 18, 1923, in New Duluth, Minn., to Carl Ingvald and Olive Marie (Haugen) Lien.

Raised in Grand Forks, N.D., she graduated from high school there.

In 1944, she married and had two daughters.

On Jan. 5, 1950, she married Clifford McCroskey in Longview. He preceded her in death Jan. 26, 1999. The couple had a son and a daughter, and he adopted her two daughters from her previous marriage.

In 1949, Mrs. McCroskey moved to Longview, and later to Portland. She was a homemaker. In 1976, she went to work in housekeeping at St. Vincent Hospital in Portland, where she worked for eight years. In 1985, she moved to Astoria and resided in Clatsop County for many years.

She was a member of the PTA from 1951 to 1960.

Family members said her hobbies included camping, riding motorcycles, boating, four-wheel driving on the beach, crocheting, cooking, sewing and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Marie Buchheit of Longview, Sharon and Garth Walstead of Portland and Margie and Morry Grosse of Gales Creek; a son and daughter-in-law, Clifford and Rhonda McCroskey of Seaside; three sisters-in-law, Barbara Lien and Edna Lien, both of Castle Rock, Wash., and Shirley Lien of Longview; a brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Janice Lien of Kalama, Wash.; a brother-in-law, Virgil Pense of Castle Rock; a sister, Lillian Baker of Castle Rock; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, Kenneth, Allen, Glenn, Orley, Carl and Leo Lien; a sister, Celestine Pense; a sister-in-law, Hazel Lien; and a brother-in-law, Don Baker.

Mrs. McCroskey requested that there be no funeral.
