Edythe M. Morris, 92, of Knappa, died Tuesday, May 22, 2012, in Astoria.
She was born Oct. 27, 1919, in Aquebogue, N.Y., to Frank and Rosalia (Kruk) Vodarcyk.
In 1937, she graduated from Riverhead High School in West Hampton, N.Y.
On Aug. 4, 1938, she married Burnis Morris Hampton Bays, N.Y. He preceded her in death April 6, 1984.
In 1975, she graduated from East Carolina University School of Nursing as a licensed practical nurse.
Mrs. Morris worked at Sea Level Hospital in North Carolina for several years. She and her husband retired and moved to Florida before moving to Clatsop County in 1982 to live close to family.
Family members said her hobbies included reading, knitting and gardening.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis M. Taylor and Guy Taylor Jr. of Knappa; two grandsons and their spouses, Trevor and Keiko Taylor of Longview, Wash., and Michael and Tereasa “TK” Taylor of Astoria; four great-grandchildren, Gregory Taylor of the U.S. Air Force in Germany, Tawny Lockett of San Antonio, Texas, Megumi Taylor of Seattle and Joy Taylor of Longview; and one great-great-granddaughter, Lylah Sauer of San Antonio.
A private graveside service with vault interment will be held Tuesday, May 29, at Knappa Prairie Cemetery.
