Fitz-Randolph Moore

Fitz-Randolph Moore, 60, of Astoria, died Thursday, May 31, 2012, in Astoria.

He was born Aug. 27, 1951, in Port Angeles, Wash., to Dr. Randolph P. Moore and Carol Jane (Bartelmez) Moore. His mother survives, residing in Astoria. His father preceded him in death Feb. 23, 2002

In 1970, he graduated from high school in Lisbon, Ohio. He attended Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., for 21/2 years.

Mr. Moore worked as a commercial fisherman, fishing in the Columbia River and the Pacific Ocean. He was part owner in the vessel Ermani, and owned the motor sailor Merilintu from 1982 to 1995. He also was a logger, and logged in Oregon, California and Alaska.

He was a devoted supporter of Ducks Unlimited and was a member of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, Eagles and Astoria Moose Lodge.

Family members said he had warm ties to native tribes in Northeast Oregon and Northwest Washington.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Melody Moore of Oregon City and Robert and China Moore of Portland; a nephew and niece, Jesse and Rose Moore of Portland; and five cousins, William B. Moore III and his wife, Dian Moore, of Lisbon, Mary Moore of Salem, Ohio, John Bartelmez of Michigan, Margaret Adie of Austin, Texas, and Stephen Bartelmez.

His companion of more than 20 years, attorney Elizabeth A. Baldwin, preceded him in death in November 2002.

A memorial will be held at a later date.
