Pearl Evaline Kujala, 72, of Knappa, died Friday, June 22, 2012, in Knappa.
She was born June 14, 1940, in Livingston, Mont., to Charles H. and Virginia B. (Russell) Roggow.
Raised in Westport, she graduated from Clatskanie High School in 1958.
On July 26, 1958, she married Donald E. Kujala in Brownsmead. He survives, residing in Brownsmead.
Mrs. Kujala was a homemaker, and enjoyed staying at home and raising her family.
She attended the Knappa Assembly of God Church, where she was also a Sunday school teacher.
Family members said her hobbies included crafts, gardening and reading.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard and Linda Kujala of Clatskanie and Charles Kujala of Knappa; a daughter and son-in-law, Debby and Greg Eastland of Clatskanie; five grandchildren, Jason Kujala, Brian Kujala and his wife, Rachel, Kaisa Larson and her husband, Grant, Robert Eastland and Emily Eastland, all of Clatskanie; four great-grandsons, Gavin and Logan Larson and Noah and James Kujala, all of Clatskanie; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Thomas and Nina Roggow and Rocky and Sharon Roggow, all of Clatskanie, and Mickey Roggow of Tualatin; and a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Jim Thomas of Newberg.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Norgren; and a brother, Jim Roggow.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin Ave. in Astoria.
A graveside service with vault interment will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 29, at Knappa Prairie Cemetery, followed by a funeral at noon at Knappa Assembly of God Church. A reception will take place at the church after the funeral.
