John Jacob Boyle

John Jacob Boyle, 83, of Warrenton, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012 in Warrenton.

He was born June 21, 1929 in Warrenton to John E. and Lena (Baumgartner) Boyle.

He was raised in Warrenton on a dairy farm and delivered milk. As a young child, he worked at the John Jacob Astor Hotel.

He married Thelma C. Dunn, July 20, 1946 in Chinook, Wash. She preceded him in death Sept. 19, 1995.

Mr. Boyle worked for Crown Zellerbach for many years, retiring in 1985. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and camping.

He is survived by two sons, Dennis Boyle, and his wife, Lynn, of Warrenton and Doug Boyle of Vancouver, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Maj. Doug Boyle, and his wife, Fern, of Enid, Okla., Donna Pimentel and her husband, David, of Los Alamos, N.M., Jack Boyle and his wife, Amy, of Astoria, Mike Wilson of Vancouver, Chris Boyle of Long Beach, Wash., Misty Wilson of Vancouver, and Stephan Harris of Portland; a brother and sister-in-law, Don and Cathy Boyle of Battleground, Wash; a sister in-law, Dorothy Boyle of Astoria; one sister, Lois Gelder of Centralia, Wash.; and two special friends, Tina Smith and Tammie Baer, both of Warrenton; and several great-grandchildren, aunts and and uncles.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 22 and 23, 2012 at Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin Ave., in Astoria.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2012 at Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary.

A graveside service and vault interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Astoria.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Seaside Christian Lighthouse Church, 88786 Dellmoor Loop, Warrenton, OR 97146.
