Lillian Faye Wheatley, age 93, of Hammond, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, in Astoria. She was born Oct. 10, 1918, in Portland, to Ralph R. and Mae Iola (McCarty) Shields. On June 22, 1941, she married Frank Wheatley in Kelso, Wash. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Wheatley lived her whole life in Clatsop County. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Clatsop chapter. She is survived by a daughter, Cathie Courtwright of Hammond; two sons, Don Wheatley and his wife, Lila, of Renton, Wash., and Frank Wheatley and his wife, Judy, of Warrenton; four grandchildren, Brian Courtwright and his wife, Lori, and Cindy Courtwright Kirby and her husband, Adam, all of Warrenton, Eric Wheatley and his wife, Dana, of Port Angeles, Wash., and Jenny Edwards and her husband, John, of Oregon; and three great-grandchildren, Andy and Hayley Courtwright of Warrenton and Delaney Nichols of Port Angeles. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Tami Nichols and Byron Wheatley. A private burial service is planned. Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary in Astoria is in charge of the arrangements.
