Nola Blanch Steph

N. Blanch Steph, 93, of Astoria, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, in Astoria.

She was born Feb. 25, 1919, in Silverton, to Oscar F. and Nola Blanch (Stevenson) Staeber.

She graduated from Molalla High School, then received a certificate of completion from Modern Beauty College in Salem.

On Oct. 18, 1942, she married George Henry Steph in Kelso, Wash. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Steph was a homemaker, hairdresser and cannery worker. She lived in Clatsop County for 70 years, in Westport and Astoria.

She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Astoria.

Family members said she enjoyed reading, word puzzles, camping and fishing.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Ed Lindstrom of Keizer and Betty and Tony Meyer of Springfield; four grandchildren, Eric Lindstrom and his wife, Suzie, and Heather Marr and her husband, Ryan, all of Star, Idaho, Kelly Lindstrom of Salem and Troy Meyer of Springfield; and two great-grandchildren, Annika and Elliot Lindstrom of Star.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin Ave.

Private interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
