Perry Hugo Nordmark, 85, died peacefully at home on the family farm in Necanicum Valley on November 14, 2012. Born in Seaside Oregon, to Hilding and Emma Lagershausen Nordmark, Perry was the youngest of 4 children and grew up on his family's truck garden and chicken farm south of Seaside. After graduating from Seaside Union High School in 1945, Perry served in the Marine Corps for 2 years. He left the service in 1951 as a Corporal. Perry then worked for Pacific Power and Light Company for more than 30 years, retiring as a line foreman in 1981.
During his lifetime, Perry donated more than 200 units of blood to the Red Cross. He was a top donor to the American Red Cross blood program. Perry was also a member of the Astoria Legion Post 99.
He and his first wife had two children, Perry and Marin. In Warrenton, he married Jeanne Black, and together they raised her son Steve in the original Nordmark farmhouse, which Perry extensively remodeled.
He enjoyed gardening and raising chickens. He raised and sold garlic and peas.
Perry had a strong work ethic and a wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Preceded in death by brother, Carl Nordmark; son Perry; brother-in-laws, Herb Neitzel & Robert Black; special niece, Sandy Hartill; grandson, Jerry Colins; nephew, Richard Black and many cats.
Perry is survived by his wife, Jeanne; daughter-in-law, Janet Nordwick Furnish; son, Stephen Holthe; grandson, Jeremy Nordmark Furnish; four great grand children; sister, Ernestine Neitzel; sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Charlie Hartill; Jill Brown; Lori Lynn Hartill; Linnea Cooper; Lester Netzel; Lynelle Netzel; Ruby McCord; Ramona Jones, and many nieces and nephews.
Donations can be made to Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Clatsop County Hospice, and Seaside Food Bank.
A memorial service will be held Friday, December 14th at 2 p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Seaside, Oregon.
