Wilma Blomquist

Wilma Blomquist, 97, of Astoria, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, in Astoria.

She was born Aug. 5, 1915, in Aberdeen, Wash., to Fred and Josephine Jez.

She lived her younger years and received her education in Aberdeen.

On Oct. 24, 1936, she married Edward Clifford Blomquist. He preceded her in death Aug. 30, 1988.

Mrs. Blomquist and her husband lived in Aberdeen until, for a period of time during World War II, they both worked in the shipyards in Tacoma, Wash. Following the war, she was a homemaker. The couple moved to Astoria in 1952, and she has resided here since.

Family members said that she was an navid gardener who enjoyed arts and crafts and oil painting.

She is survived by a daughter, Joan Blomquist of Astoria; two sons, Gene Blomquist of Henderson, Nev., and Jack Blomquist of Seattle; and two grandsons, Joshua Blomquist of Astoria and Bjorn Blomquist of Henderson.

A private graveside service will be held at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton.
