Isabelle Gertrude “Peggy” Parrett, 97, of Astoria, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, in Astoria.
She was born March 6, 1915, in Portland, to William and Dollina (McKay) Havens.
Raised in Jewell, she graduated from Jewell High School in 1933.
On March 19, 1940, she married Arthur A. Parrett. He preceded her in death Jan. 13, 1994.
Mrs. Parrett had a variety of jobs. She was a housekeeper for families in Astoria, she managed an apartment house, and she was a cocktail waitress at Club 13 and the Schooner in Astoria. She also worked in seafood canneries in Warrenton.
Family members said she loved being at home, taking care of her husband and family.
She is survived by three daughters, Pauline Tolleson of Newark, N.Y., Cheryl Parrett of Albuquerque, N.M., and Donna Mook of Gresham; and six grandchildren, Thomas, James and Richard Tolleson and Cindi Stauring, all of Newark, Jacki Anderson of Astoria and Lynne Wills of Gresham; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Colleen Cooper; a brother, Dale Havens; and a grandson, Monty Cooper.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, followed by a funeral at 2 p.m., at Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin Ave.
Private interment will be at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton.
