Larry Joe Berg

Larry Berg, 65, of Astoria, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, in Astoria.

He was born Oct. 11, 1947, in Tacoma, Wash., to Clarence M. and Bessie Margaret (Searles) Berg.

In 1963, he graduated from Astoria High School.

During the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Army.

On Nov. 13, 1980, he married Sharon Berg in Vancouver, Wash. She survives, residing in Astoria.

Mr. Berg worked in construction all over the world for 45 years, 27 of which were with Bergerson Construction.

He was a member of the Astoria Clowns, Astoria Moose Lodge, Astoria Elks Lodge and Clatsop Post 12 American Legion.

Family members said his hobbies included golfing, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He was an avid reader, and loved history.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Courtney Perry and her fiance, Jesse McMurdie, of Seaside, and Darla McClelland and her husband, Jon, of Beaverton; a son, Greg Berg of Santa Barbara, Calif.; four grandchildren, Tyler Perry of Eugene, Cadent Perry of Seaside and Lila and Cambell McClelland of Beaverton; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Alice Berg of Lake Stevens, Wash., Harry and Rhonda Berg of Washougal, Wash., and Dick and Karen Berg of Port Orchard, Wash.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Ann and Allan Moe of Arlington and Betty and Steve Hamilton of Edmonds, Wash.; and two sisters-in-law, Patti Martin of Astoria and Shirley Rawlings of Rochester, Wash.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Chuck Berg.

A celebration of life memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Astoria Moose Lodge.
