Winnie Lee Mcknight

Winnie Lee McKnight, 87, of Knappa, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, in Seaside.

She was born Oct. 23, 1925, in Cut and Shoot, Texas, to Thomas Eliga and Vivian Irene Brown Perry.

She was raised and attended school in Big Thicket, Texas.

On Sept. 4, 1943, she married Perlie “Dee” McKnight. He preceded her in death in 1994.

Mrs. McKnight was a homemaker. After marrying, she and her family moved to New Mexico. They moved to Tracy, Calif., in 1962.

She was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was a pioneer for the church, spending more than 100 hours a month in service.

Family members said she enjoyed spending time with her family. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, quilting and needlework.

She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Reba Jean and Manuel Sousa of Longview, Wash., Sharon Lee and Skip Jorgensen of Banta, Calif., Janet and Vince Dutra of Fort Bragg, Calif., and Janette and Duane Auditor of Knappa; a son, Michael Rohn McKnight of Carson City, Nev.; 11 grandchildren, Sabrina Richardson and her husband, Taylor, and Javin Sousa and his wife, Theresa, all of Windsor, Calif., Erik Jorgensen and his wife, Victoria, of Tracy, Calif., Ryan McCall of Post Falls, Idaho, Adam McCall and his wife, Ashley, Michelle McKnight and Michael Rohn McKnight Jr. and his wife, Ashely, all of Carson City, Beau McCall and his wife, Carly, of Tacoma, Wash., Vinessa Tomasello and her husband, Scott, of Portola, Calif., and Aaron Dutra and Taylor Dutra and his wife, Sonya, all of Fort Bragg; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Nathan and Jamie Sousa.

Mrs. McKnight requested that there be no formal funeral.

Private interment will be held in California.
