Marilyn Kay Lindgren, 65, of Astoria, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, in Astoria.
She was born Feb. 18, 1947, in Seaside, to Howard Leroy and June Mildred (Taylor) Olson.
Raised in Seaside, she graduated from Seaside High School in 1965, and attended Astoria Beauty College for a period of time.
She was the first waitress for the Astoria Pig ’N Pancake Restaurant, and continued working there until marrying.
On Sept. 21, 1968, she married Larry Lindgren. He survives, residing in Astoria.
Mrs. Lindgren was a homemaker, and enjoyed raising her family.
Family members said she loved working in the yard, her rock garden, camping, reading, and playing cards. Her special enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren, attending their sporting events and 4-H.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Troy and Shelly Lindgren of Knappa and Kent Lindgren of Astoria; a daughter and son-in-law, Tami and Bryan Swearingen of Jewell; four grandchildren, Victoria Lindgren of Corvallis, Sarrah Lindgren of Knappa and Chase and Alivia Swearingen of Jewell; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Jeri Olson of Astoria, Don and Janey Olson of Seaside, Steve and Betty Olson of Virginia Beach, Va., and Tom and Patti Olson of Warrenton; close family friends, Janet and Loyd Bowler of Astoria and Margit Bowler of Los Angeles; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Kenny Olson; a nephew, Brian Olson; and a brother-in-law, Milton Lindgren.
A graveside service with vault interment will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Greenwood Cemetery, 91569 Highway 202, followed by a reception at the Comfort Suites, 3420 Lief Erikson Drive.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Portland Hydrocephalus Association Walk, in care of the Hydrocephalus Association, 4340 East West Highway, Suite 905, Bethesda, MD 20814, or a charity of one’s choice.
