Zephyr Elaine Warren

July 28, 1931 — April 7, 2013

Zephyr Warren passed away at her home in Knappa at the age of 81. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Dell Warren, three sons, Steve, Roger and Keith. Eight Grandchildren and 5 Great-grandchildren.

She loved music and encouraged her kids to share their music with others at every opportunity. She filled the house with musical instruments and often spontaneously sang to her kids. She loved to cook and bake for folks, grinding the wheat herself and usually cooking from “scratch.” She often teased about “cooking for an army,” usually as they came back for more. Zephyr taught sewing to many, and made many a special dress for little girls. She also collected dolls, which she freely shared with many.

She taught Sabbath school classes at her church and always was a great story teller. She loved to give the children gifts pertaining to the stories she told about Jesus and his love. She loved Christmas, and because of her generosity there was never an empty Christmas tree in the family, no matter how far away.

Zephyr put the needs of others first and was always the first to help a family in need with her generosity. She loved children and was a foster mother to many children going through rough tines in their lives. Zephyr met many a total stranger, and in 5 minutes would make friends with them with her special kind of outgoing social personality, often leading her husband Dell to say, as he sat in the car while she went into a grocery store and got to talking to someone, “I used to be a Salmon Hatchery Manager, but now I’m a waiter.”

A Celebration of her life will be held at the Astoria Seventh Day Adventist Church at 300 Nehalem Ave. Astoria, OR, at noon on Sunday, April 21st.
