Edna Lucille Leonard

Her parents were Harold & Dora (Howard) Johansen. She was raised in Astoria, and attended Lewis & Clark School, then attended Astoria High School.

July 25, 1947, she was married to William G. Leonard in Astoria, Oregon. Edna worked at a mink farm to raise money for Christmas for the family. Later she worked at a shingle mill and Astoria Cleaners.

She lived all but a few years in Astoria, Oregon. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Astoria. The church could always count on mom to make about 40 loaves of bread for the bazaar each year. She made orange rye and cardamom bread.

She was also a member of the Daughters of Norway. Like the baking of bread for the Methodist Church, she also contributed bread for the Scandinavian Festival. Her interests were knitting, crocheting, baking bread and cookies, and playing pinocle at the retirement village on Mondays.

Surviving her is her husband William G. Leonard, Astoria, Or.; children Bill Leonard, Albany, Oregon; Katherine Boyer, Chinook, Washington; Kenneth R. Leonard, Meridian, Idaho; and Gregory Leonard of Astoria, Oregon; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, sister Marjorie Smith from Madras, Oregon.

She was preceded in death by parents Harold and Dora Johansen, brothers Arthur and Ray Johansen and sister Marion Cly.

A Celebration of Life service will take place May 3rd 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Astoria, Oregon, with reception to follow. Private graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery at 4:00 p.m.
