Mary C. Parker, age 70, of Astoria, born October 2, 1942, to William and Mary Hyde of Ware, Ma., passed away May 8, 2013.

Mary married the love of her life George Parker in Ware, Ma., on February 23, 1963, and eventually settled in Astoria, Or. She attended Clatsop Community College and received her associate’s degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences. She was the regional manager for the Coast Guard exchange and retired after 21 years of service.

In 2005, she became a heart transplant recipient and then became active in volunteering for the Donate Life Oregon Donor Program. She was an avid reader, had a quick wit and could keep you captivated for hours with her many stories.

The thing that meant the most to her was her family. She is survived by one son George L. Parker II, Niverville, N.Y., Two Daughters and sons-in-law Susan & Robert “Dipper” Donohue, Niverville, N.Y., Leslie & Todd L’Amie, Astoria, Or., Five Grandchildren, Melissa, Dustin, Meghan, Mary & Adam, One Great-Grandchild Delaney. Two sisters & Brothers-in-law Susan & Charles Harryman of Parkville, Md., Ruth & Maurice Talbot of Columbia, Md., Two Brothers & Sisters-in-law William & Judy Hyde of Ware Ma., Mark & Patricia Hyde of Providence, RI.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday May 16th at 11:30 a.m. at Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin Ave. A reception at the American Legion will follow.
