Lee Alexander Lahti

August 17, 1926 — May 16, 2013

Lee Alexander Lahti, 86, of Astoria, OR., died Thursday, May 16th, 2013, at Alder House Adult Foster Care in Astoria.

He was born in Brownsmead, OR., to Henry Lahti & Hilda (Luoto) Lahti, the namesake for Hilda Lahti Elementary School in Knappa.

Lee attended Fairview & Knappa Grade schools and subsequently graduated from Knappa-Svensen High School with the class of 1946. Lee was a lifetime resident of Clatsop County, primarily in Knappa & Brownsmead.

Lee served in the U.S. Army for a short period in 1946. When he returned, Lee worked the majority of his life with his brother (Stuart Lahti) logging locally within the timber industry.

Lee enjoyed animals of all sorts and excelled in wildlife photography and progressed to video photography. He loved music and was an avid walker and bicyclist.

He is survived by five cousins, Ruth (Lahti) Addison of Sea-Tac, WA., James Peck of Milwaukee, OR., Joyce Nyman of Vancouver, WA., Gloria Faulk of Portland, OR., and Fred Lahti of Hood River, OR. In addition, Lee is survived by numerous nieces, nephews & close personal friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Stuart.

At Lee’s request, there will be no formal Funeral Service, but rather a Gathering of friends and family for a Potluck at the Brownsmead Grange Hall, Officiated by Pastor Phil Morrill, on Saturday, June 8th, 2013, at 2:00 PM.

Memorial contributions may be made in Lee’s name to the Knappa School Foundation or a charity of your choice.
