Gladys May Eilo

Gladys May Eilo passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013, in Astoria, Oregon. She was 91 years old. Miss Eilo was the daughter of Anders William Eilo and Fannie Marie Kerola. She was born on May 23, 1921, in Astoria, and graduated from Astoria High School. As a young woman, she went to model in New York City, where she also studied modern jazz dance. When she returned to Astoria, she studied art and designed commercial window displays.

Her hobbies were playing the piano, watching Groucho Marx on TV and swimming at Tapiola Pool in the summer. She also loved animals, especially cats. Later in life, she was a longtime resident of Clatsop Care Center, where she made many friends.

Gladys Eilo was related to Mrs. Judith Westersund of Pendleton and Mrs. Enni Perkiomaki of Astoria, both deceased. She also had an uncle in California, Mr. Ernest Kerola.

Her inurnment is in her parents’ plot at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton, Oregon. At her request, no services were held.
