Dolan Clayton

Dolan was born in Longrun, Missouri. He was the son of Jim and Raye (Absher) Clayton.
Dolan was the last of 12 children in his family.
He moved to Oregon in 1952, and enlisted into the National Guard, and served from 1953-1961. He then started working for Bradwood Lumber Mill, then worked at the Astoria Plywood Mill and began starting his own building company, “Dolan Clayton Builder’s” which he owned and operated until he retired in 2007.
He married Mardelle Kaisalahti August 31, 1955, at the Brownsmead Immanuel Church. Mardelle survives at the family home.
After his retirement, he enjoyed his garden, tractor, wood cutting, and woodworking. His family enjoyed many birdhouses that he made, also wooden benches and his Christmas Wreath Trees.
He is survived by his wife, Mardelle Clayton of Svensen; a daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Greg Riley of Warrenton; a son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Carla Clayton of Svensen; a daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Dan Bartlett of Svensen; six grandchildren, Matt Riley and his wife, Nikki, of Warrenton, Stephanie Davis and her husband, Dave, of Warrenton, Kaisa Freeman and her husband, Seth, of Salt Lake City, UT, Kenneth Bartlett and his wife, Allison, of North Pole, AK, Brandon Clayton and his wife, Andrea, of Burnside, OR, and Darin Clayton of Knappa, OR; and five great-grandchildren, Natalie and Addison Davis of Warrenton, OR, Kyler and Sydney Bartlett of North Pole, AK, and Hannah Freeman of Salt Lake City, UT.
Graveside Services will be held Saturday, September 7, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Knappa Prairie Cemetery, Knappa, Oregon.
A reception will follow at the Svensen Senior Center, 92650 Svensen Market Road, Astoria, Oregon.
In Lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be given to the Knappa Food Bank in care of Dianne Bartlett, 92606 Koppisch Road, Astoria, Oregon 97103
