John Max Gilliland

John Gilliland, age 86, a former Warrenton resident, served in the Navy in World War II on board the carrier USS Princeton, in the Air Force in the occupation of Japan, and at Paine Air Force Base in Everett, WA, during the Korean War. John was with the Portland Police Bureau for 25 years and the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office for 10 years. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and VFW. Survivors include wife Greer Gilliland, son Jon Gilliland, daughter Susanne Gilliland Williams, three grandchildren Erik Gilliland, Kirstin Gilliland and Rose Williams. Interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery. Family only. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clatsop County Food Bank.
