Beverly Marie Hamilton

Beverly Marie Hamilton, 87, passed away Thursday, January, 2, 2014, in Astoria. Beverly was born July 25, 1926, in Astoria, the daughter of Jack L. Hughes and Lena A. Stanovich Hughes. She was raised in Astoria and graduated from Astoria High School in 1944.

In 1945, Beverly married James H. “Jim” Hamilton in Astoria, and he preceded her in death August 20, 2011.

She was a seasonal worker at Bumble Bee Seafoods and Barbey Packing Company for 15 years. She loved gardening, cooking, making crafts, sewing, quilting, refinishing furniture and had many other talents. Everyone loved Beverly, and she enjoyed sharing time with her family and many friends.

For 69 years, she was a member of a club of ladies who would meet once a month. She was a caregiver to many people. She enjoyed feeding the birds and animals. After her husband Jim retired, they spent winters in Hemet, California, with good friends Bill and Irene Hall and Carol and Dick Evans. Beverly and Jim also enjoyed traveling to Europe and many other countries.

Survivors include her son Thomas Hamilton of Astoria; her daughter and son-in-law, Laurel and Richard Beatty of Astoria; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and Lyle Beamer of Astoria; and sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Dick Evens of Renton, Washington. Brother-in-law, Asher Hamilton of Beaverton, Oregon. Also numerous nieces and nephews survive, as well as many, many close friends and neighbors.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, January 9, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton, Oregon.

Memorial contributions may be given to: Clatsop County Animal Shelter, 1315 S.E. 19th Street, Warrenton, Oregon 97146, or to the Columbia River Maritime Museum, 1792 Marine Drive, Astoria, Oregon 97103.
