Dale Ray Kubik, 72, of Long Beach, Washington, died Sunday, March 23, 2014, in Portland. He was born June 9, 1941, in Astoria, Oregon, to Marjorie Ann and Donald Ray Kubik. He graduated from Astoria High School in 1959, and from a Weiser, Idaho, trade school as a heavy equipment operator in 1963. From 1959 to 1962, he served in the U.S. Navy, and was in the Reserves until 1965. Dale was a heavy equipment operator, logger, tug boat operator and foreman for the DOT in the state of Alaska. He retired in 1994 to Astoria, Oregon. He lived in Clatsop County for approximately 30 years, in Astoria for approximately 20 years, and for 10 years in Long Beach. He was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge and the Eagles. He enjoyed clam digging, fishing, hunting and driving. Dale is survived by his wife, Norma Kubik; a sister, Sharon Kubik; a brother and sister-in-law, George and Rosalie Kubik; a son, Dale Ray Kubik; a son, John F. Kubik; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Kubik; nephews Darryl Fleck, Mike Kubik, Don Kubik, Chris Proffer and Kenny Kubik; a niece, Kimberely Fleck; and grandchildren Sandrenia Karasse, Dale R. Kubik III, Randi Jo Kubik, Emmet Benolken, Karl Benolken Jr., Timothy Benolken, Ayden Benolken and Angelina Inez Kubik. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 29, 2014, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin Ave., Astoria, OR 97103. A reception will follow at the American Legion, 1132 Exchange St., Astoria.
