Lorraine, 90, passed away peacefully in Astoria, Wednesday, March 26, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was born December 15, 1923, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Dolphord Layman and Olivia Foss Layman. At the age of 6, she moved with her parents to Oregon, and lived in numerous places before settling in Warrenton, and also attending Warrenton High School. Lorraine worked for a few years as a grocery checker and also was a cannery worker. She married Bobbie Scrimsher in 1985, and enjoyed being a homemaker, and took care of her parents as well as her husband’s parents. Bobbie passed May 22, 1992. Her hobbies included crocheting and gardening. Lorraine’s greatest love was spending time with her family, and will be missed by them very much. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Hugh Mason of Warrenton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Katie Fox of Astoria, and Rick and Debbie Fox of Renton, Washington; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. A celebration of life memorial service will be held Friday, March 28, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the Christian Church of Warrenton. A private graveside service with vault interment will be held earlier for the family, at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Lower Columbia Hospice, 2111 Exchange St., Astoria, Oregon 97103 or to the Christian Church of Warrenton, 1376 S.W. Anchor Ave., Warrenton, Oregon 97146.
