Phyllis was born in Astoria to Marvin and Esther (Johnson) Lund on October 10th, 1948. She attended grade schools in Astoria and graduated from Astoria High School in 1966. On December 17th, 1970, she was married to Bob Anderson of Knappa. After a few short years living in the Portland area, they returned to Knappa near Bob’s grandparents. This would be their home for the next 40 years. They started a family and a logging business, Blind Slough Logging.
Phyllis was very busy the next 25 years making a home for her family and bookkeeping for the business. Along with the business and her family, they also bought acreage in Knappa and Brownsmead where they did, and continue to, raise beef cattle. Phyllis could be found on a tractor many a summer making hay. She was involved in the Scandinavian Festival. She loved the colorful costumes, dancing and music. Phyllis was interested in history and enjoyed researching her ancestry. She became instrumental in compiling facts and stories for the Johnson family book, “Shall We Gather at the River.” It was important to her that heritage and history was passed on to future generations. She was very dedicated to her beliefs in God and enjoyed reading the Bible. She lived her life for her children, grandchildren, and husband. Phyllis was also known for her famous macaroni salad, a favorite of her family and was frequently requested. She was called to be with the Lord on July 16th, 2014.
