E. Jane Campbell, of Astoria

Jane was born September 5, 1920, in Seattle, Wash., to Alfred and Adeline Carlson. Her parents moved from Rosburg, Wash., to the Lewis and Clark area of Astoria soon after she was born. She attended Lewis and Clark Grade School, and graduated from Astoria High School in 1938.
Jane married Gerald Johanson in 1945. They later divorced, and Gerald preceded her in death in 1980.
She married Jack Campbell June 16, 1978, and he preceded her in death in 1993.
Her working career included being a bookkeeper for her husband’s business and working as a bookkeeper and clerk for Leon’s Clothing Store in Astoria. Her family remembers her as a wonderful mother and homemaker. Her hobbies included crafts, gardening, cooking, sewing, knitting, clam digging and traveling. Jane helped her husband remodel and rebuild two homes.
Survivors include her son, Gregory Johanson of Knappa, Ore.; grandson and his wife, Dave and Darcy Campbell of Kalama, Wash.; granddaughter and her husband, Melissa Johanson and Garth Black of Springfield, Ore.; grandson, Christopher Johanson of Knappa, Ore.; great-grandchildren, Molly Jane Campbell of Thailand, Jillian Campbell of Kalama, Wash., and Madison and Mackensie Johanson of Knappa, Ore.; sister-in-law, Louise Carlson of Springfield, Ore.; nieces, Wendy Jennings of Springfield, Ore., and Debbie Schmidt of Washington; great-niece and nephew, Clarissa and Matthew Schmidt of Springfield, Ore.; niece, Linda Pasma of Astoria; and close friends, Ron and Ginny Campbell of Astoria, Ore., and their children, Chris Stevens, Dale Campbell and Vince Campbell.
She was preceded in death by her youngest son, Brian Johanson; daughter, Tanis Campbell; and three brothers, Jim Carlson, Bill Carlson and Joe Carlson.
Graveside services will be held Friday, September 12, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton, Ore.
