Jacquelina Marie Ford

June 15, 1918 — March 17, 2015

Jacqueline Marie Ford, 96, of Claremont, passed away on March 17, 2015, in Astoria. She was born on June 15, 1918, to parents Hermann and Josephine Strand Erp.

Jackie grew up on her family farm in Grays River, Wash. She attended school in Bay Center, Nemah and Naselle — wherever her mother got a job teaching school. Jackie graduated from Astoria High School in May 1935, at age 16. She attended Pacific University in Forest Grove for two years, and also went one year to Astoria Business College.

On Dec. 23, 1946, she married William (Bill) Ford in Vancouver, Wash. They were married 56 years.

Jackie was active for many years in the community. She was a 4-H leader where she had forestry and sewing clubs. She served as a school clerk. At one time she was a community reporter for The Daily Astorian. She was a precinct committeewoman. She had been an active church worker, serving in a variety of capacities, and she was one of the founding members of the Svensen Friends Church.

Jackie loved learning. She enjoyed reading, and always had many books in her house. She kept up on what was going on in the world, and on the political scene. She maintained her quick wit and sense of humor throughout her life.

Jackie was blessed with artistic talent, and was interested in many forms of arts and crafts. She did oil painting, tole painting and ceramics and made handmade dolls.

Jackie is survived by one son, Ronald (Linda) Ford of Astoria; three daughters, Josephine (Bob) Livingston of Ocean Park, Wash., Cheryl Parker of Svensen and Jacqueline G. Ford of Claremont; six grandchildren, Rob Livingston of Beavercreek, Ore., Gary Livingston of Battle Gound, Wash., Teresa Crouter of Claremont, John Ford of Ashland, Ore., Heather Huerta of Harrisburg, Ore., and Donnie Shrode of Svensen; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Ford; a son, John Ford; and a sister, Kathleen Slotte.

Jackie was a very caring, kind person who dearly loved her family, and she will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

At her request, no service will be held.
