Maude Luella Wieting died May 9, 2015, at the age of 101 in Astoria, Ore. She had moved to Seaside, Ore., in 2008.

She was born in Lennox, S.D., Dec. 10, 1913, to Maude (Jacobs) and Ludwig Greenfield. She was one of seven children. Sisters Marion and Sanna (Martin), and brothers Arthur, Lloyd, and Russell Greenfield preceded her in death.

A brother, Dr. Duane Greenfield, survives in Sioux Falls, S.D. She is also survived by three daughters and their spouses, Whitney Lind in Sweden, Christine Wieting in England and Jan Wieting in Gearhart, Ore.; two grandsons, Erik and Karl Lind; and two great-grandchildren, Anton and Emma Lind. She was married in 1934 to Charles Maurice Wieting, who died in Sioux Falls in 1995.

She and her husband lived and raised their daughters in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Columbus, Ohio, before returning to live in Sioux Falls in 1990. Both of them had strong ties to South Dakota their entire lives, and visited relatives often.

She will be buried at the Lennox Cemetery in South Dakota, joining her parents, siblings, and husband.
